14th Indonesian Association of Orthodontists Annual Meeting

The Indonesian Association of Orthodontists (IAO) held its 14th annual conference on the 22nd to 24th August 2019 at the Shangri-La Hotel, in Surabaya.“Digital Orthodontics: An Approach to Enhance the Quality of Orthodontic Treatment”was selected as the theme for this year’s conference and the meeting brought together more than 850 local and international participants.

The 3 day meeting officially kicked off with interactive sessions by 8 international speakers and 14 national speakers. Topics ranged from “The Application of Auto Tooth Transplantation and TADs in orthodontics, an inter-disciplinary approach” and "Root Movement and Adult Orthopaedic in 3D -Expanding the Scope of Digital Diagnosis and Treatment” to “Management of Vertical Dimension and DigitalTechnology".

Our keynote lecturers for this event included Prof. M. Ali Darendeliler and Prof. Kee-Joon Lee.

A Scientific Awards session was held and attracted 40 orthodontic residents and clinicians to present their latest research findings and challenging case reports. The trade exhibition attracted more than 20 organizations and participants were given opportunities to explore the latest cutting-edge technology in orthodontics.

The event also provided a wonderful platform for participants to extend their network through our highly anticipated Gala Dinner. The Dinner took place at Ciputra Golf Driving Range and showcased the best of Traditional Indonesian Art. The highlight of the event was whenDr. Krisnawati, President of the IAO, was honored with the Award for Exceptional Leadership, by Dr. Roberto Tan, Secretary General of APOS.

 Through immersive lectures and hands-on courses given by national and world-renowned speakers, this event is a testament to the dedication and contribution of the IAO in enhancing and fostering the seeds of orthodontic knowledge to orthodontists, as well as orthodontic residents. The IAO wishes to acknowledge the Organising Committee for their relentless efforts in ensuring that this meeting was a success. We look forward to hosting the next IAO Annual Meeting in 2020.
