2020 has been a year of uncertainty for all Thai Orthodontists. As I write this article, it was with great blessings that the Covid19 situation in Thailand had stabilized. As such, we were able to hold our Thai Association of Orthodontists (ThaAO) Scientific Conference as a physical meeting.
The theme of the orthodontic conference was “Global Perspectives in Dentofacial Orthopedics”. This event was held on 19th to 20th November 2020 at the Centara Grand at Central World, Bangkok. We had a total of 361 local registrants.

At the opening ceremony, we were welcomed by our new president of ThaAO, Prof. Dhirawat Jotikasthira. Prof. Dr. Juan Carlos Perez Varela’s, the president of the Spanish Society of Orthodontists, was invited as our keynote speaker. Dr. Varela’s lecture showed the impressive minimally invasive treatment alternatives for managing skeletal malocclusions. His presentation was broadcasted live from Spain with Dr. Bryce Lee and Dr. Amit Bhardwaj, joining us as invited special guests via online webinar.
As part of the programme line-up, we also gathered renowned local lecturers from dental school all over Thailand to share their knowledge and experiences on-site. Thie meeting provided attendees with practical clinical techniques and up-to-date orthodontic information.

We hope that in the months to come, we will be welcoming both local Thai orthodontists and our international friends to our next ThaAO meeting in July, 2021. In the meantime, stay safe and stay well.
