Report to APOS – VAO Congress 2026
Dear APOS Leadership,
On behalf of the Vietnam Association of Orthodontists (VAO), we are pleased to submit a report on the VAO Congress 2026, which was held from March 20–22, 2026, in Da Nang, Vietnam, under the theme: “Shaping the Future of Orthodontics.” The congress brought together a total of 187 participants.

1. Scientific Program Overview
The congress featured a comprehensive scientific program including pre-congress sessions, main congress lectures, keynote presentations, and a hands-on workshop. The program emphasized innovation, digital orthodontics, and evidence-based clinical practice.
Key topics included advances in biomechanics, shape memory aligners, finite element–guided appliance design, smile analysis integration, sleep-disordered breathing in orthodontics, non-surgical management of skeletal Class III malocclusion, and applications of digital orthodontics and 3D printing.
2. Invited Speakers
The congress welcomed distinguished international and regional speakers, including Prof. Ravindra Nanda, Prof. Ki Beom Kim, Prof. Johnson Hsin-Chung Cheng, Dr. Soo Jin Kim, Dr. Adith Venugopal, along with leading Vietnamese orthodontists.


3. Workshop and Clinical Training
A hands-on workshop on the application of digital techniques and 3D printing in MARPE and clear aligner therapy was conducted, providing practical training on digital workflows, appliance fabrication, and clinical integration.

4. Academic Impact
The congress promoted evidence-based orthodontics, highlighted advancements in digital technologies, and strengthened collaboration between international and Vietnamese experts. It emphasized biomechanics-driven treatment and minimally invasive approaches.
5. Organizational Achievements
The event maintained high scientific standards and reinforced Vietnam’s position as a regional center for orthodontic education and collaboration.

6. Conclusion
The VAO Congress 2026 was a successful academic event that combined scientific excellence, innovation, and clinical relevance. It provided a valuable platform for advancing orthodontic knowledge and strengthening international collaboration.
