The Association of Orthodontists (Singapore) Congress (AOSC) 2025 was an exceptional gathering of orthodontic professionals from across the globe. Held at the iconic Marina Bay Sands from 1 to 2 March 2025, with pre- and post-congress activities on 28 February and 3 March respectively, the event welcomed 785 participants from 31 countries. This diverse audience came together to explore the latest advancements and breakthroughs in the field.

This year’s congress was graced by distinguished guests, including Dr. Chng Chai Kiat, Chief Dental Officer, Ministry of Health, Singapore; Dr. Nikhillesh Vaiid, President, World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO); and representatives from the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society (APOS). Their presence underscored the global significance of AOSC and highlighted the importance of international collaboration in shaping the future of orthodontics.

Under the theme "Forging Ahead with the Evolving Faces of Orthodontics: Embracing Fundamentals, Change, and Innovation," AOSC 2025 featured an engaging scientific programme led by 11 esteemed experts, including keynote speakers Dr. Ute Schneider-Moser and Dr. Sandra Tai. The conference addressed pivotal topics such as the evolution of fixed appliances versus clear aligners, innovations in 3D-printed shape memory aligners, advancements in self-ligating bracket systems and lingual orthodontics, as well as treatment strategies in early orthodontic intervention, auto-transplantation, and the integration of orthognathic surgery with aligners. Delegates had the opportunity to exchange ideas, delve into cutting-edge research, and gain valuable insights to refine their clinical practice.

The Scientific Poster Competition was another key segment of the scientific programme, providing a platform for researchers and clinicians to showcase their work. This competition was divided into two categories: the case report and research project categories, both recognizing outstanding contributions to orthodontic science and practice. The Best Research Project award was presented to Dr. Wan Jing Kang from the National University of Singapore, while the Best Case Report award was won by Dr. Kai Fai Wong from the University of Hong Kong.

A highlight of the congress was the 2nd AOSC Resident’s Symposium, organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry, and held at the National University of Singapore. With nearly 100 participants, this platform provided opportunities for orthodontic residents from around the world to network with each other, and also fostered enriching discussions on the evolving role of orthodontists and the importance of public education. The enthusiasm and engagement at the symposium underscored its growing significance in nurturing the next generation of orthodontic professionals.

Another notable event was the Pre-Congress Forum: Women in Orthodontics, which honored the invaluable contributions of women in the profession. The forum featured an insightful presentation by Oral Medicine specialist Dr. Chelsia Sim on "Oral Medicine and Women's Health: A Closer Look at Female-Specific Conditions," followed by a dynamic panel discussion with esteemed female leaders — Dr. Ute Schneider-Moser, Dr. Sandra Tai, and Dr. Letizia Perillo. This engaging session provided attendees with practical perspectives on navigating work-life balance, fostering collaboration, embracing diversity, and building meaningful professional relationships.

Beyond the scientific and clinical sessions, AOSC 2025 emphasized networking and professional camaraderie. Events such as the Welcome Reception and the AOSC Gardens by the Bay Run encouraged meaningful connections, enriching the overall congress experience.

The congress also featured a dynamic trade exhibition, bringing together 22 exhibitors from six countries, representing over 100 globally recognized brands. This showcase allowed attendees to explore the latest innovations in orthodontic technology and treatment solutions, further enhancing their learning experience.

As AOSC 2025 concludes, the orthodontic community eagerly anticipates future gatherings. The Association of Orthodontists (Singapore) will host the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Congress 2026 at Marina Bay Sands from 6 to 8 November 2026. Orthodontic professionals worldwide are warmly invited to be part of this milestone event, promising another transformative convergence of expertise and innovation.

Until then, the spirit of collaboration and progress ignited at AOSC 2025 will continue to inspire the orthodontic community in the years ahead. See you in 2026!
